Active substances (cordyceps) play an important function in maintaining the body's homeostasis, minimizing the impact of stress and facilitating adaptation to changing environmental conditions. Cordyceps is distinguished by the presence of numerous biologically active components. This adaptogenic mushroom has been widely used for centuries in Chinese folk medicine.

An interesting phenomenon is the ability of the Cordyceps mushroom to induce apoptosis, or programmed cell death, in cancer cells. In vitro studies have shown that the use of Cordyceps militaris extract can result in the enhancement of apoptotic mechanisms in cancer cells. This was achieved by reducing the production of Bcl-2 proteins, which normally inhibit apoptosis and contribute to the growth of cancer cells. In addition, an increase in the expression of genes responsible for encoding enzymes such as caspase-3 and PARP, which play a role in the breakdown and elimination of cancer cells, was observed.
